Pedophiles typically have a collection of child pornography, and they may also take souvenirs, such as locks hair, underwear, etc., from their victims. These items are often part of the fantasies they spin around the children they are obsessed with. Their pornography is generally treated as a prized collection. Why do they need porn? Various reasons could include the following:
* It satisfies their need for erotica and pedophilia.
* It satisfies their need for validation, which may explain why many child offenders compulsively collect pornography.
* The children in the photographs stay young forever, although in realty they will grow up and not be victims any more.
* Some child offenders use the pornography as blackmail to prevent a child from telling about the abuse to another adult.
* Some pedophiles actually exchange porography and information about children with other child offenders.
